A team of public and private sector representatives recently attended the 47th Annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) to showcase the benefits of vessel registration within the Cayman Islands.
The Civil Aviation Authority (Aircraft Registry) teamed up with the Cayman Islands Shipping Registry to jointly market their services to mutual clients - the owners of private planes and pleasure yachts. Private sector representatives, Truman Bodden & Co. and Appleby Hunter Bailhache, also exhibited their legal services within the shipping industry as a means of further assisting current and potential clients.
A. Joel Walton, CEO of Cayman Islands Shipping Registry, and head of the delegation stated: “The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show is the biggest boat show world-wide. Not only is it extremely significant to showcase our services here, but it is particularly encouraging to be supported by Cayman’s shipping industry partners and the Aircraft Registry.”
Mr. Walton went on to say that exhibiting at a forum such as this could only help to gain exposure and continue to build registration numbers. As of September 30th, the Cayman Islands Shipping Registry had over 1200 registrations, continuing to hold its place as the leading superyacht registry in the world. The Registry has also significantly increased its “Newbuilds” portfolio, a service provided to vessel owners/managers and shipyards to approve plans and oversee vessel construction.
The Cayman Islands Shipping Registry has been an active participant of FLIBS since 1998 and has steadily experienced growth in its participation numbers over the years, positively increasing the Registry’s presence.
In order to accommodate the rising co-exhibitor participation at the Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show, the CISR displayed its new cherry wood and frosted glass booth in its physical exhibitor space, which has nearly tripled in size.
Another highlight of the trip was a cocktail party hosted by the CISR in appreciation of existing clients and as an opportunity to promote the registration/survey services to potential clients. The evening was also an occasion for the delegates and shipowners to mingle at the yearly event. The party was co-sponsored by the Cayman Islands Investment Bureau, the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism, Campbells and Appleby Hunter Bailhache.
