Philip A. Barnes is a native Caymanian born in the district of George Town, Grand Cayman, has held appointments on boards in the Cayman Islands public and private sectors. These include: Chairman of the Cayman Islands Maritime Authority, Deputy Chairman of the National Housing Development Trust and Director of Caribbean Utilities Company Ltd., a TSE-listed company.
Mr. Barnes obtained a Bachelor of Science degree (Hons.) in accounting and is a retired Certified Public Accountant.
He has extensive experience as a financial accounting manager in the Cayman Islands offshore financial industry. Trained and articled with PriceWaterhouse, Cayman, gaining extensive accounting and auditing experience.
His current professional membership is the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Mr. Barnes is also a Notary Public in and for the Cayman Islands.
Mr. Barnes serves his community well through means of charity including the Lions Club of Grand Cayman. His civic responsibilities include serving as the Returning Officer for the Cayman Islands General Elections (George Town South Electorial District) and as the Funding Director of the Cayman Islands Scouts Association.
