GEORGE TOWN, Grand Cayman – As it does every year, the Cayman (Shipping) Registry, a division of Cayman Maritime, was in attendance at the prestigious Annual Monaco Yacht Show in September; this year marked the 20th consecutive year for the event.

Representatives from George Town headquarters, the organisaton’s European Regional Office in Southampton, U.K., Italy, and the Monaco office were present at the handsomely appointed booth promoting the Cayman maritime flag. Established in 1903, the Cayman Registry is the worldwide leader in the registration of superyachts, but as a Category 1 member of the prestigious Red Ensign Group, can register vessels of any size and description, including wet and dry cargo ships.

Cayman Maritime’s CEO, Mr. A. Joel Walton, and Events Coordinator, Ms. Dorisley Jackson, attended from George Town Headquarters. European Surveyors were also on hand, including Monaco-based Mr. Eduard Henny, and Ms. Lucia Badano, who is based in Italy. Attending from the U.K. were Senior Surveyor, Mr. Peter Simpson; Client Service Officer, Ms. Yvonne Webb; and, from the London office, Assistant Registrar of Shipping, Ms. Tamara Bostock.

Representing the Cayman Islands Government was MLA Cline Glidden, who was accompanied by Mrs. Gloria Glidden. Representing the National Investment Council was its Chairman, Mr. William Peguero.

“The Monaco Yacht Show is considered the most prestigious yachting event in the world,” says Mr. Walton, “and is attended by tens of thousands. As one of the world’s most prestigious registers, it is imperative that we maintain a highly visible presence at the event each year. It is a real thrill to walk along the quay in Monaco and see Cayman’s Red Ensign waving from the majority of the sterns of the world’s most beautiful vessels.”

“International luxury yacht industry professionals view the MYS as the world’s leading superyacht show,” says Ms. Exie Tomlinson-Panton, Head of Business Development, who spearheads the Cayman Registry’s participation at the event. It attracts global high-end professionals and private clientele: in excess of 500 exhibitors and an estimated 30,000 visitors. “Participating in the show has become a must for industry leaders”.

The organistion’s popular “Mojitos in Monaco” promotional party was held this year at Zelos restaurant in Monte Carlo. Co-hosting the event were Appleby and, new on board as a sponsoring partner for the first time this year, the luxury Swiss watchmaker, Ulysse Nardin.
